George Cayford
(born in 1931) was trained at the
Royal
College of Art and worked as a graphic designer and illustrator with his
own design company. Later he was head-hunted by the
London
College of Printing and taught graphic design and illustration whilst
continuing with his own commercial career.
His private life wasn't always compatible with his career ambitions.
George's skill lies in the sure way he captures on paper the
spontaneous
poses adopted by his models. His method is to draw at speed with charcoal
or pastels. The speed of the drawing medium is important to him: it enables
him to set the image he sees down quickly. His drawings are attempts to capture
moments of spontaneity and freshness.
